Position: Synthesis Chemist

Type of position: Full-time, permanent

Salary:  Salary $75,000 per annum, 37.5 hours per week

Dima Technology Inc. is a global technology leader dedicated to developing innovative chromatography products including ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC) columns, solid phase extraction (SPE) products, bulk chromatographic media, and chromatographic accessories and equipment. We serve the pharmaceutical, health, food, petrochemical, environmental and other industries, in Canada and abroad.   

We require an experienced Synthesis Chemist in development of novel column packing materials with following qualifications:

·       Master’s degree or higher in material science, organic synthesis, analytical chemistry, pharmacology or related;

·       Minimum three years’ highly skilled experience in:

§  Designing and synthesizing polar organosilanes, bifunctionalized organosilanes and silylation reagents;

§  Designing novel world-class separation products using processes and procedures relevant to HPLC stationary phase materials such as organosilane synthesis, silica particle chemistry, bonding of stationary phases, surface modification reactions, derivatization of chromatographic medias;

§  Developing and manufacturing UHPLC, core-shell and HPLC columns including packing and evaluating analytical, semi-preparative and preparative columns;

§  Establishing, maintaining and troubleshooting the column packing system and equipment;

§  Working with, and developing and validating, analytical methods, including UHPLC, HPLC, GC, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and sample preparation;

§  Interpreting results and data and reporting on same;

§  Ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance.

·       Minimum three years’ experience in project management, and managing and overseeing chemist technicians and ensuring best practices;

·       Strong leadership qualities and team-building skill.

 

The chosen candidate will perform the following duties:

 

·       Conduct comprehensive research, through designing and planning research projects, establishing best practices for project management, experimental design and analysis, monitoring and ensuring progress of product development, evaluating and delivering accurate scientific data and high quality chromatographic consumable products.

·       Drive growth of UHPLC, HPLC and sample preparation business through product development and ensuring a constant stream of new products is delivered on schedule and within budget.

·       Design and synthesis of polar organosilanes, bifunctionalized organosilanes and silylation reagents.

·       Design novel world-class separation products using processes and procedures relevant to HPLC stationary phase materials such as organosilane synthesis, silica particle chemistry, bonding of stationary phases, surface modification reactions, derivatization of chromatographic medias and method development.

·       Pack and evaluate HPLC analytical, semi-preparative and preparative columns.

·       Establish, maintain and troubleshoot the column packing system and equipment.

·       Analyze and assess raw materials for quality and integrity and maintain raw material inventory.

·       Assume the responsibilities for UHPLC, HPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS and SPE methods development and perform analytical laboratory work, propose innovative solutions to address customer needs, provide leadership for the evaluation of laboratory systems and support the development of products and applications on such systems.

·       Original thought and creativity are expected in evaluating new techniques, products, and improvements to existing procedures.

·       Supervise technicians.

·       Work with customers and cross functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, marketing, finance and quality to develop and execute strategic plans and objectives and then translate these into operational plans for the HPLC and sample preparation R&D team.

  • Technical Sales Consultant

Dikma Technologies Inc. has an exciting opportunity for one Sales Specialists in USA. You will be responsible for driving growth of the consumable business and achieving order targets for the consumable products. Manage the North American chromatography consumable sales force within budget constraints. Responsible for contract compliance for all North America consumable orders. Candidate will work with customers and cross functional teams including sales, R&D and production, to ensure strategic plans are capable of double digit growth and a continual improvement in profitability. Candidate will oversee the creation of print and web based collateral and promotional campaigns, as well as being directly involved in sales training and customer presentations.

As a Sales Specialist you will use your excellent sales track record to focus on acquiring new customers and retaining and growing the existing installed customer base. Key responsibility will be to develop our direct sales channel through direct customer interactions. Additionally, you will work with indirect sales channels to achieve quota/strategies based on customer's requirements.
 
Requires:

•BS in Chemistry, and 3-5 years of HPLC and LC/MS experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.

•3-5 years sales or marketing experience in the chromatography including one or more of the following areas: HPLC, LC-MS, GC, GC-MS, SPE.

•Sales experience preferred with demonstrated successful track record.

•Ability to solve a broad range of problems of varying scope and complexity.

•Strong customer focus with a keen understanding of their needs and drivers.

•Excellent oral/written communication and teamwork skills as well as an energetic/enthusiastic phone demeanor is a must.

•Must be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial drive.

•Developing distributor relationships in target accounts when requested by customers.

•Available for up to 50% travel.
